Go to the nearest high rise building that you don’t need an ID card to get into. This is important because you’ll need to get into the building as it forms a pretty substantial part of playing the game. The higher the building, the longer your game will last. Remember this.
The name of this game is “Top Floor Bottom Floor” and it is lots of fun.
So you’re in the building. Make sure there are at least two working elevators, unless you’re in a British high rise building, in which case make sure there are at least two working lifts. The more the better.
Make a bet with the other player, either ‘Top Floor’ or ‘Bottom Floor’. If there is no other player, make a bet with yourself. But do it silently through the power of your thoughts because even though you’re in a building that requires no ID for access there may still be people who don’t take too kindly to nutters in it.
Go to the middle floor of the building, the one that’s half-way up (or down, if you’re a pessimist).
Hit both buttons, the up and down elevator buttons.
Get into the first elevator that arrives on your floor. Go to the next floor depending on which direction it is going. If it is going up, go to the next floor up. If it is going down, yada yada yada down.
Get out on the next floor and press both the up and down buttons on that floor, repeating the previous steps, going up or down one floor at a time depending on the direction that the first elevator/lift is going.
When you get to the top or bottom floor, the winner is the person who bet on getting to that floor (in the “Betting Round” of play). In one-player games, the winner is the person who didn’t get thrown out of the building for being a nutter.
To make the game more interesting, add fire.
