I mentioned yesterday that I have several types of whisky in my possession right now. I thought I’d share my thoughts on them with you, because I am a giving Lord.
Glenrothes Alba Reserve - This excellent Speyside malt goes down brilliantly, like I imagine its namesake Jessica does. I’ve never had a whisky that had such fruity overtones as this; at times drinking it is like fucking Carmen Miranda’s hat. I recommend pairing this drink with the smug contemplation of day that went exactly how you planned it to.
Booker’s Bourbon - The finest bourbon I’ve ever tasted, with elements of tobacco smoke, vanilla and kicking a man when he’s down. The little tag with the bottle says not to have it with ice but I recommend adding a little splash of water so the oaky aroma fills the room like an inflatable submarine. This is the drink that one of Chandler Bing’s coworkers offered to him in exchange for a date with Rachel in one of the episodes of Friends, and Chandler was all like, “I’ve no idea what that is” because the man is a fool and a wastrel.
Nikka Yoichi 10 yr old - I was quite surprised by how complex this whiskey was. There was such a variety of flavours I felt like I was watching a whiskey clipshow. It was like someone cut out section of loads of different books and rearranged them all to make a new book with an excellent ending that you immediately want to re-read when you’ve finished it.
Glenmorangie Single Malt - Like an old friend, this Highland whisky is a bit nutty at times but mostly vanilla-scented. Also like an old friend, it tends to linger for a while before leaving abruptly with your limited-edition copy of Novocaine for the Soul on 7 inch vinyl. Seriously Greg, I want that back, you bastard.
